Dakota 7-on-7 for Varsity Football Players

Gentlemen,

This is an important reminder that Tuesday, July 14th and Thursday, July 16th the Varsity Football team members will be scrimmaging Dakota High School at 6:00 in the evening at Dakota High School. We will meet and leave at Athens no later than 5:00 both Tuesday and Thursday in order to arrive on time and warm-up appropriately. All Varsity players for both offense and defense, including Ben Bartnowak, must participate in the 7-on-7. All Freshman and J.V. players are highly encouraged to come along to continue their learning process, along with encouraging their football family members as they compete in the 7-on-7. I highly encourage all underclassmen that can get a ride to Dakota, attend the passing scrimmage. This is another opportunity to make yourself more mentally prepared for the up-coming season.

We will still have our inner-squad practice at 7:00 on Wednesday, the 15th at Athens High School. Remember Wednesday's are legal practices and all players participating in the 2009 season are expected to attend. We made great progress last Wednesday, let's keep the momentum going by increasing our participation numbers, and continuing to take advantage of the learning process. With only 30 days left before the start of the football season, we need to take advantage of every opportunity we have as a team to work together. This includes total participation by all members at the Troy Sports and Recreation Football Camp. The camp is Monday, July 20th through Friday, July 24th. Please sign up ASAP!

I need all players to respond to this email no later than Monday, July 13th by 7:00 pm. I want to see who is actually taking care of business with all aspects of Redhawk football.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Priorities?

33 more days until the start of Football Season.

133 more days until the start of Basketball Season.

I could be wrong, but I think statistics show that football season will arrive much sooner than basketball.

Have a nice day!

Dead Week Reminders

Gentlemen,

Hopefully you guys are enjoying the week off. Even though we are taking a break from structured football for a week, I still hope that you are taking the time to get your mental reps in. Remember, the smartest football player, is the best football player. Take the time to get into the playbook and study your position expectations, along with the play concepts - both offensively and defensively - that we have gone over so far. It is my expectation that all members of the Redhawk football family will know their playbook both inside and out. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or shoot me an email.

Also, remember to sign up for the Troy Sports Camp. The Sports Camp will be held Monday, July 20th through Friday, July 24th. It's important that all football team members sign up for this camp. This camp allows us to further our skills, and master the new terminology both offensively and defensively.

TAKE CARE. HAVE A SAFE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND. SEE YOU ON MONDAY!

Summer Workout Expectations

We will rotate postition groups week-by-week. We are starting with OL/DL, TE's, H's/FB's/LB's at 9:00 - 10:00 am. QB's, RB's/DB's, WR's will lift during the second half of the morning session from 10:00 - 11:00 am. When we return from dead week, the QB group will begin their lifting at 9:00 am. You must show up to workout ON TIME!! Coach Divito will start timing the session right at the designated start time for each group. You only have 10 minutes to start and finish each workout, then you must move on to the next lift. Each participant is expected to get all of their lifts in at the designated time. Decrease the down time between lifts, and help each other load and unload weights. Let's utilize this time to become the best football player's in the State. Remember to increase your start weights for each lift every week, and also add at least five pounds to each set. EVERY WORKOUT COUNTS! Your TEAMMATES are counting on you to take advantage of every opportunity we have to get Athens Football to the top of the mountian. Let's have a great summer.

Go Redhawks!
